Elephant is a huge land animal.

Elephants prefer to live in forests, grasslands, woodlands, as well as deserts.
We can also see elephants in zoos, circuses or as pets.

The largest species of elephant on earth is the African savannah elephant.
African elephant has long tusks but only Asian male elephant has tusks but female has no tusks.
The skin of the elephant is 2.5 cm thick and very tough.
Elephants are not able to jump or gallop.
Elephant hearts weigh about 26 to 46 pounds while their brains weigh 10 to 12 pounds.
The female elephant gives birth to only one but rarely two calves.
Elephants communicate through sound, touch, and greetings by wrapping their trunks.
All elephant species are classified as endangered.
About 60% of Asian elephants are found in India.
Poaching, hunting, habitat loss due to deforestation are the main threats to the elephants.
